Discipleship Formation
for families, children & youth

The faith life of a child begins and is nurtured in the home. At St. Gertrude Parish we are committed to supporting parents in their role as the primary educators of their children through every stage of life and discipleship.

Rooted: Family Baptism Formation

The journey of faith begins at Baptism. Meet other parents and be equipped to root your young child and family more deeply in Jesus Christ and his Church.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

CGS, as it is commonly referred to, is a Montessori-influenced faith formation experience for children ages 3-grade 3. Sessions take place in a prepared environment, called the atrium, which is filled with beautifully handmade child-size materials.

St. Gertrude School

St. Gertrude School fosters excellence for each student grades K-8 through exceptional Catholic academic development and faith formation. For over 85 years, our Dominican charism to gather in faith, guide in truth, and grow in excellence has provided the foundation for our students to flourish and lead a full life for the glory of God.

Sacramental Formation

First Communion & First Reconciliation

St. Gertrude Parish collaborates with parents whose children (usually in second grade) are preparing to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion.

Family Faith

The goals of Family Faith are to support parents as primary educators of their children, to foster personal encounters with Jesus Christ through prayer and teaching, and to form community among the families of our parish.

Junior High Youth Ministry

Our junior high youth ministry invites emerging adolescents in grades seven and eight to ask those questions, form deeper friendships, receive guidance from mentors, and live more deeply from their identities as sons and daughters of the living God.

Sacramental Formation

Confirmation

This two-year formation process is open to all seventh and eighth graders at St. Gertrude Parish who are seeking to receive the sacrament of Confirmation.

L’alto: High School Youth Ministry

All teens in grades nine through twelve are invited to live an adventurous life, a courageous life—the Christian life. L’alto: High School provides a powerful experience of Christian community through shared life, prayer, formation, and mission.

Becoming Catholic

RCIA FOR CHILDREN

Young people ages 7-16 who are interested in becoming Catholic, or completing their sacraments of initiation, are invited to contact Walter Plummer, director of children and youth evangelization. Our team will work with you and your family to develop a formation plan.
